This Chinese pierced iron sword guard dates to the 17th-18th century. It has an open vegetal motif with an entwined dragon. It is further embellished first with silver covering the iron and also gold then covering the silver in places. If you look closely you can see where the gold is worn away exposing the gold beneath it. Believe this guard to be form one of the Chinese royal workshops.
